چکیده

The Fourth (4) Annual Student Research Symposium (SRS) for graduate and undergraduate students majoring in science, engineering, and mathematics will be conducted at Texas Christian University (TCU) on Thursday and Friday, April 20-21, 2006. The Symposium is designed to offer a mentored research experience to students in the TCU College of Science and Engineering. The Symposium has been successful and has become part of the continuing landscape of learning that occurs at TCU each spring semester. This paper discusses some of the characteristics of the SRS program, how it is administered, and what its benefit has been to students in the Department of Computer Science.

ACT-R: A Theory of Higher Level Cognition and Its Relation to Visual Attention

The ACT-R system is a general system for modeling a wide range of higher level cognitive processes. Recently, it has been embellished with a theory of how its higher level processes interact with a visual interface. This includes a theory of how visual attention can move across the screen, encoding information into a form that can be processed by ACT-R. This system is applied to modeling severa...
